Generator Operator & Driver (CDL-Class A) Broadcast and Special Events

Summary

Illumination Dynamics, Inc. (ID), is a leading supplier of Lighting, Grip, Trucks and Generators to the Motion Picture, Television and Commercial Industries as well as Automated Lighting to the Television and Corporate Events and Portable Redundant Power to Live Sports Broadcast and Special Events.

ID is looking for a Generator Operator and CDL Class A Driver for our Broadcast and Special Events with 3+ years’ in road driving and 2+ years’ in Diesel Generator and Electrical Distribution experience and possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This role will be located in our Charlotte, NC office.

This full time position will be required to work on the road as well as in the warehouse, performing the duties and responsibilities listed below. Primary job is to oversee Generator power for live events mostly in the Sports Broadcast Industry. Over the road interstate travel is required and at times for several weeks in a row. The position requires working alone on jobs sites with the client as a single representative of the company. The Generator Tech/CDL Driver is required to perform their duties and complete their jobs at the expected level of performance required by ID.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Driver Responsibilities: Full understanding of all current CDL laws. Includes daily vehicle inspection reports. Maintaining accurate driver log book. Individual mileage reports. Making sure the vehicle is current on service intervals. Properly and safely securing all loads in or on the vehicle... Keeping track and logging all expenses via expense report. Maintaining an accurate weekly time card. Random DOT drug screening.
  • Generator Technician Responsibilities: Following all ID procedures as laid out in the Broadcast Generator Tech Handbook. Includes generator knowledge in parallel and non-parallel set ups. Maintaining all generator log sheets to include operation log, monitor sheet, and Generator fuel logs. Working with office personnel prior to events for the scheduling of fuel deliveries. Communicating with ID personnel to trouble shoot potential issues. Performing minor repairs in the field per instruction from ID personnel. Performing regular scheduled generator maintenance. Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clientele.
  • To be considered you must possess the following skills/abilities:

  • Working knowledge of generators and diesel engines.
  • Available to work prolonged hours and be on the road for extended time periods.
  • Willing to travel via commercial airlines as business needs require.
  • Must maintain a valid CDL Driver’s License with clean MVR..
  • Must pass background check, DOT Drug & Alcohol screening test and pass prior Employment and Safety verifications per DOT requirements.
  • Working knowledge of paralleling generators and redundant power systems.
  • Good electrical and electronic knowledge including AC & DC power, generators and ability to analyze problems and assist with repairs.
  • Working knowledge of complete mechanical operation of vehicles and ability to make minor repair.
  • Working knowledge of rental equipment terminology and application as it applies
  • to the Motion Picture, Broadcast and Special Event Industries. Prior Broadcast knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge in the use of personal computers and related company software applications.
  • Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work seated driving for long periods at a time in accordance with DOT/CDL laws. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting of up to 100 pounds is required. Proper lifting techniques are required.     Accounting Manager

    We seek someone who is most comfortable in an environment of multi-tasking and problem solving, and who provides strong team leadership. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (we will not consider a Business or Finance degree), at least 7 years’ experience in all aspects of Accounting. We require a minimum of 4 years’ managerial experience in an Accounting setting.

    This role will be responsible for management of the accounting department and will hold treasury and payroll responsibilities. The Accounting Manager serves as a partner for all managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information, revenue analysis, and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of month end close, financial reporting, and annual financial audit.

    Lighting and Grip Floor Technician

    Summary

    The ARRI Rental Group, a premier rental house for professional motion picture Camera and Lighting equipment, is looking for a Lighting and Grip Floor Tech to work in our Secaucus, New Jersey office.

    The Lighting and Grip Floor Tech is a full time position responsible for preparing, loading, and testing equipment along with checking in customer rental packages from productions. Working directly with the crew and fine-tuning the equipment to meet the needs of our customers.

    A minimum of 1-year experience with professional lighting and grip equipment or in related entertainment fields preferred.

    Role Includes the Following Responsibilities:

  • Daily duties include but are not limited to, pulling orders; testing equipment; cleaning equipment before it goes out and on its return. Along with completing all paperwork
  • Loading and unloading trucks
  • Receives and tests equipment returned from productions
  • Assists crews with checking in and checking out equipment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to drive company vehicles

    The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Atlanta rental operation, ensuring fulfilment of all customer requirements from order placement to invoicing.

    We seek a highly-motivated, customer-service driven individual with 5+ years of Operations Management experience in the film equipment rental industry. A Bachelor’s degree in Film/TV production preferred or related field experience required. We are looking for a seasoned manager who truly understands how to motivate and empower staff.     Some areas of responsibility for this full-time role include:

  • Manage all areas of the facility and rental operation to ensure client needs are surpassed.

    The role of Lighting Rental Sales Executive is a full time position reporting to SVP Rental, primarily focused on securing jobs and promoting rentals of conventional lighting and grip equipment to the Motion Picture and Television markets. We are seeking someone who has strong TV, Feature Film and Commercial crew and production relationships and the ability to secure business and generate revenue. In this vital role you will need the ability to quickly develop a rapport with potential new clients, establish relationships with existing clients and be driven to close deals. You will be expected to be accountable for meeting sales targets and achieving results. You will be required to attend industry functions and lead all promotional events on and off site. The ideal candidate for this role is energetic, self-motivated with inventive and creative energies to develop and grow our business and additionally assist in marketing efforts for all divisions.

    This role requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Lighting and Grip equipment in the Production or Rental field. Please understand that we will not consider any applicants who do not have the required experience working with Lighting and Grip equipment, this requirement is mandatory!

    We prefer a minimum of 5 years’ marketing and managerial experience in the Lighting Rental industry.

    To be considered you must have detailed knowledge, experience and the ability to perform in the following areas:

  • Strong TV, Feature Film and Commercial crew and production relationships and the ability to secure business and generate revenue
  • All facets of daily rental operations including the Rental Office, and Warehouse Operations
  • Supervision of personnel, to include work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluate performance and make recommendations for personnel actions; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Provide Rental Manager with information regarding any upcoming opportunities.
  • Assist SVP Rental in sales and forecasting as needed including visiting production, making phone calls, taking crew to lunch or dinner, attending industry functions.
  • Collaborate with Rental Manager on a daily basis and communicate with in house personnel as needed to insure customer needs/expectations are met on every order.
  • Collaborate with VP Fleet Operations and Technical Services to insure all production needs are communicated and met
  • Provide management with information to assist in determining new inventory needs based on sub-rental history and industry trends
  • Participate with management team in the development of operating goals and objectives for ARRI Rental Lighting and Grip; recommend, implement, and administer methods and procedures to enhance operations
  • Work in collaboration with Rental manager to insure that all operations are constantly seeking ways to increase quality, efficiency and productivity.
  • Interact in a proactive manner with crew and external/internal clients to insure customer satisfaction
  • The right candidate will show a superb customer service mindset, excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, the ability to negotiate deals with customers, attention to detail, superior organization skills and have a familiarity with Rental software programs (R2 rental software preferred) and Microsoft office programs.
